Tax Exempt

ThinkReservations offers a way to easily modify an individual reservation's taxes. Inside the reservation/bill is a button to edit this bill's tax exempt policy.

Inside the bill, click the gear button in the upper right-hand corner labeled "Actions."

A drop-down menu will appear. Select "Edit Tax Exempt Policy."

A pop-up will appear asking you which taxes should be exempt.

If this bill should not have any taxes charged to it, choose All taxes exempt, and click the Save button.

If only specific taxes are exempt, choose Specific taxes exempt and check the box next to the taxes that are not to be applied. Click the Save button at the bottom of the popup to apply your changes.

The tax changes on the bill will update after you save, and the "TAX EXEMPT POLICY" will reflect your changes as well.

In our Tax Reports, you will see these reservations represented as TAX EXEMPT SALES.

If you would like to override taxes for an entire Rate Type, you can do so by overriding the taxes in the General Information tab. For example, if a guest stays longer than xx days, they might be exempt from a certain tax.
